Is Samsung's Galaxy Note lineup dead or not dead? That is the question. According to Samsung's president and head of mobile communications business, Roh Tae-moon, it pretty much is — in the U.S., at least.
On Tuesday, the company published a press release reflecting on all of the devices it released in 2020 while also looking ahead to what we can expect in 2021. And, it appears the company has basically confirmed the Galaxy Note 21 isn't one of them.
Toward the bottom of the post, Roh writes:
We’ve also been paying attention to people’s favorite aspects of the Galaxy Note experience and are excited to add some of its most well-loved features to other devices in our lineup.
After reading this line over and over, I think there's no other way to interpret it: The Note is clearly no more, starting next year.
This news comes only a few weeks after rumors of the Note's impending death surfaced on the internet.
According to Reuters, sources close to the matter claim "the South Korean tech giant does not have plans to develop a new version of the Galaxy Note for 2021." The report also claims the company plans to include a stylus in its Galaxy S21 flagship with compatibility for its next foldable phone — which is likely the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
But Korean publication, ET News, claims that 2021 will be the Note's last hurrah. Rather than launching two variants of the device, Samsung will apparently only release one version before officially discontinuing the lineup.

But it looks like we won't have to wait long to see what Samsung has up its sleeve for the coming year. Roh signed off by mentioning there will be more news to come in January.
When reached for comment, Samsung said it had no further details to share at this time.
